idea of masculinity
lostFor a long time, I only had this set of photos on my homepage. Once another photographer said that he was "too good" for doing work in clubs and the techno scene. He was also referring to me as "the party photographer," which could mean different things, I guess. I spent a lot of time in basements and cloak rooms with my camera, and I was always drawn to the same subjects forming out of the dark. Everything was always about this idea of masculinity. I started in my 20s, so it was a bit like cruising or searching with a camera. It never felt like a job. Now if I see myself going back to a club with a camera, I end up being even more reserved than I used to be. Also, I think it lost a bit of its sexiness.
