monokel off space
supportet by Kuluturamt Leinfelden-Echterdingen.
We created a "Perücken Säule" where people could try out wigs, a "smell-a-drag-queen" jar, set up a long-format interview area, and installed a rock with a chain for I-MAN-I's performance. I wanted people to keep exploring throughout their stay, engaging their different senses—sound, smell, and of course, vision.
But there was also this second layer—the love for my partner Alex and his commitment to his drag persona that was often overlooked and not celebrated enough. And also the aspect of Alex being an introvert and exploring a different form of extroversion through his drag. That, I think, is so healing for all of us. We are not one thing; everyone has layers.
